A day after Sports & Youth Services Department’s request to General Administration & Public Grievance Department to allot unutilized vacant land of Kalinga Studio for development of sports complex kicked up a controversy, DSYS Commissioner-cum-Secretary Vishal Dev clarified that proposal was at a very nascent stage and no concrete decision had been taken by the government.
The Sports Secretary admitted that a letter had been sent from the DSYS to the GA&PG proposing the consideration of the `part` of Kalinga Studio land which was lying vacant to be developed into a Sports complex. The DSYS letter, dated 4th May, 2018, however, kicked up row with Ollywood fraternity strongly opposing such a move.
``Since the city is growing, we have requested General Administration (GA) Department to identify land patches for setting up sports complex and playgrounds in different parts of the city. The letter about Kalinga Studio was also written with the same objective,’’ the Sports Secretary said in a statement today.
``As you can see from the letter, we have asked for development of a sports complex on the `unutilised vacant stretch of land of Kalinga Studio’, not the whole of Kalinga studio. But more importantly it was just a suggestion from our side. There has been no decision at the government level. It is a simple proposal from our side. GA Department gets requests for land from different departments and agencies,’’ clarified Vishal Dev.
